Something Special

 

Here is my 2nd Raleigh Bike.  It is a 2009 Raleigh Special.  Added Wald fenders and Wald basket.  Figure it will be a great "townie" bike to have for my new neighborhood.  Video store runs, grocery store, coffee shops, bars.  

NEW Velo is coming along well.  92 members in about 3 weeks.  I feel like I need to do some song and dance everyday on the site but figure I made it for the cycling community to use as they please so I will let them "define" of shape it's direction and see where it wants to go.

I'm also helping new bike commuters from Baycare/Aurora health with picing good, safe routes to and from work.  So far only 1 route request but figure that will change once the weather gets nicer.  A challenge for new commuters to get started, pick routes and gear and such.  Seems daunting to them I think but hope I can be of some help for them to enjoy and continue commuting by bike.......

Good Dayz

Been getting some great commutes to and from work again this week.  Dandy little north breeze today as I headed to work, good push for the legs and I knew coming home would be a great tailwind.....

Did a bad thing though.  Got home from my 18 mile round trip bike commute, soo hungry and no food in the house so I jumped into the Volvo for a maybe 2 mile round trip run to the grocery store for dinner for me and the Cat....

NEW Velo

Well a new venture or undertaking has begun for me.  It is called NEW Velo and is meant to bring ALL cyclists, anyone who owns a bike together in one place, online to share and grow NorthEast Wisconsin's cycling community.  

It is odd that me being not so much a social person now "owns" a social network :)~ I guess maybe next I should let people / friends know I have this blog and then maybe people will actually read it...LOL 

I guess I figure if I am going to stay in this area, I like biking alot, and spend a lot of time on the Internet cuz I don't own a TV, then I might as well try and do something positive for the area I live in and maybe create some kind of "community" that already kind of exists but yet doesn't at the same time.....

So we'll see what happens.  Maybe it will take off and grow or nothing will happen and t will just fall into the Internet abyss of things tried......

Nice chilly spring commute

Glad I rode in to work today.  Just couldn't imagine driving though the air was a chilly 30 degrees.  Nice when you have the right gear.  Fox River Trail is now ridable which is a nice part of my commute vs driving on some of the city roads.

Really nice section of quiet paved trail along Baird's creek.  Just a hair under 18 miles round trip which is a nice easy commute and very much worth it.  Hopefully Mother Nature decides not to snow again but looks like that may not be the case....

Rain...Rain

Actually happy to see lots of rain in the forecast for the next 2 days.  Clean up roads, wash away winter road salt and melt away remaining snowbanks......Ahhh springtime :)
